Who are we? An Ohio based
Canoe outfitters specializing in Week long Boundary waters canoe area trips

Untethered Adventures strives to provide an outdoor experience that will enhance, awaken, and instill a love for nature but the pristine wilderness of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) in North East Minnesota.  Scott Knupp and Kyle Cox (both Centerville High School Alum) took over Kahshahpiwi Outfitters form Matt Turton and Mark Fridenmaker (also Centerville High School Alum) who took over the company, formerly known as Eagle and Hawk, From Mack Van Allen and Jim Rawley (former Centerville High School teachers) who had been guiding trips for high school students in the BWCA since 1970.
Eagle and Hawk 1970-1995

Eagle and Hawk was started as a way for two Centerville teachers to share their love of the outdoors with kids and help them experience something that might change their lives.  With little knowledge of the BWCA, Mack and Jim soon became well seasoned in the skills needed to have a fun and safe experience in one of the most pure and pristine environments the United States has to offer.
Little did they know the 1984 trip would have such impact on a CHS junior and graduating senior; they wouldn't be able to get rid of them and had to make them guides.   Eventually, these  two young men would be entrusted with continuing to introduce young adults to a place as inspiering as it is beautiful.
Kahshahapiwi Outfitters 1995-2018

For 24 years, Mark Fridenmaker and Matthew Turton  have been traveling with high school students in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.  After experiencing the BWCA for the first time Matthew and Mark knew that spending time on those lakes would always be present in their lives.   When the opportunity presented itself for Matthew and Mark to take over the company they permanently cleared their calender's for early June.  What this trip provided for Matthew and Mark was something they did not want future CHS students to miss.  A week canoeing, camping, and fishing in some of the most beautiful country in North America is an experience everyone should have.
